Angels, Demons & Other “Spiritual Beings”

The Subject of A New, Crowdfunded Video Series From The Bible Project This Summer

(Portland, OR—July 23, 2019) The Bible Project—a non-profit, crowdfunded animation studio that produces short-form, fully animated videos to make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere—has launched a new video series explaining “Spiritual Beings” and their role in the Bible. Showcasing Elohim, Cherubim, the Angel of the Lord, Satan and other important biblical characters, “Spiritual Beings” aims to correct modern portrayals of angels and demons that are based on deep misunderstandings of the original biblical text.

“This summer, families everywhere are headed to the movies to enjoy Hollywood’s fantastical, action-packed stories about heroes with superpowers from strange dimensions. Yet when many of these families head to church, they may not notice or understand the supernatural beings and incredible stories right inside their own Bibles. That’s why we created this new series, perhaps some of our most challenging material yet. Spiritual beings do in fact play an important role in the biblical story, and that’s what this video series is all about,” said Mike McDonald, Director of Strategic Relationships at The Bible Project. “We exist to demystify the Bible, to break it down and explain it in a way that is accessible and understandable. Thanks to our supporters, we are able to offer our content all over the world, free of charge.”

The series features seven episodes, including an introductory video and six additional videos that tackle a distinct subset of spiritual beings:

  1. Introduction to Spiritual Beings
  2. Elohim
  3. The Divine Council
  4. Angels and Cherubim
  5. The Angel of the Lord
  6. Satan and Demons
  7. The New Humanity

The series is designed to help viewers understand how different spiritual creatures fit into the biblical authors’ worldview as well as the larger storyline of the Bible. By the end, all biblical spiritual characters are profiled.

The entire series is crowdfunded by over 100,000 supporters and is free and available to watch HERE!
